Impossible: Realizing how precious life is

It's crazy how life is just expected. We sometimes take life for granted, thinking that it's always there and infinite, when really it isn't. Today after watching  Impossible- a new movie about a tsunami that hit Thailand, separated a vacationing family of five, and ended up bringing them back together- I began to remember how fragile life can be. In just a moment of tragedy, it can be completely stripped away, leaving you in shock, fearful, and restless. Loss becomes your fragility and motivation becomes your state of mind; to save what is lost and help the hurting.
This even reminds me of how people grieve; some are depressed and sullen while others strive to bring hope, change, and make a difference. Sometimes, temporary loss is like grievance. We as humans tend to think so much and jump to conclusions instead of resting in God's peace and reassurance that he is in control of it all. It's very understandable that, like the mother and her son Lucas,we think that because of a tragedy  the impossible is not possible, and our hope is lost (Lucas thought his brothers were dead, yet his mother believed that they were out there, couldn't stop searching, and helped a child, whom she helped because she new that if it was one of her children, she'd want someone to do the same). It's easy to forget that the impossible can become possible through the power of God, not man. (Matthew 19:26, Luke 1:37)
This intensely tragic movie even reminded me how life is. Beautiful and sunny in the beginning, enjoying the thrill of the flight of life and dipping our toes into the pool of expectation and adventure. Then we start to grow up, realize that there is good and bad in the world, and have our own struggles, see death happen right before our eyes, watch people get beat up, and see terrible occurrences in the tsunamis of life. But then, even through our darkest moments, we sense God's presence and everlasting hope; smiles, laughter, and joy as people find themselves and families bring comfort to each other.  We realize throughout life that joy is found, and by focusing on the joy, hope, and all that God says he is, we began to notice that the the endless possibilities couldn't have been found if we hadn't reached what we thought was impossible along the way.
